The first MdV MEETs school Film Festival

A project to bring school and cinema together

The MdV Meets Cinema Festival was born within the "School meets Cinema" project of which it is also the concluding event. The project, coordinated by "3° Circolo Didattico Baldo Bonsignore" of Mazara del Vallo has as partners: the MEET Association, the Rivoli cinema, and the Municipality of Mazara del Vallo.

In addition to the coordinating school, the project involved eight other schools in Mazara del Vallo and in its first part initiated a training course in which 46 teachers took part. This cascaded to involve many other teachers, and more than 500 students engaged in the realisation of a total of 17 short films participating in the festival in a specific section dedicated to the project.

The Festival is a meeting point for schools, filmmakers and students who make films focusing on school, education and the lives of young people.

of the competition

There will also be two out-of-competition Screenings , which cover some of the most recurring themes in the works submitted for the competition: “Odissee - disintegrazione e integrazione” and “Altre integrazioni”.

PARTICIPANTS ADMITTED: Single students and all kinds of primary and secondary schools in the world.
TOPICS: Any film made at school or by students (free topic).
MAXIMUM DURATION: 15 min. (including opening and closing credits)

PARTICIPANTS ADMITTED: Universities, institutions, associations dealing with education and training, and independent filmmakers operating in the world.
TOPICS: Films dealing with schooling, education and training, youth issues.
MAXIMUM DURATION: 15 min. (including opening and closing credits)

This edition of the Festival has the support of the National Image Education Plan for schools promoted by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education and Merit

We believe that the acquisition of media skills and the ability to express oneself through audiovisual language represents an essential basis for the student today further learning and social inclusion.

The aim of the Film Festival is to create a bridge between schools and cinema and to promote the use of audiovisuals in school courses.
The Festival promotes the knowledge and dissemination of short films capable of interpreting the function of cinema at school in an original way.
